Five ways

to be more

efficient

at work

When it comes to business, time is money. The more time you have, the more money you can make. Therefore, it is crucial to be as efficient at work as you can be. With COVID causing a lot of disruption to the world and workplace, many changes are happening. This causes unrest and people to have to work from home or from a place they are not used to. With all this upheaval, productivity can drop. Below are five-way to be more efficient at work, according to this contributed post.

Reduce the amount of time you spend on your emails

We are all guilty of it, constantly checking our emails every 15 or 20 minutes to see if anybody has got in touch with us. Most of the time, they haven’t; all you are doing is distracting yourself, causing yourself to be less efficient. Instead, try and check your emails once every hour or two and reply then. If you weren’t expecting an email from someone, you don’t have to respond instantly. They won’t mind waiting a little longer for your response.

Keep training and improving yourself

As they say – knowledge is power! If you are continually learning and bettering yourself, you will find that you are more efficient at work. Maybe brush up on specific skills such as Excel or PowerPoint so that you do not need to google how to do something every time you use it. Online courses such as Udemy can help with this.

Don’t be stuck in the old ways

Make sure your software and systems are up to date. Cloud Services can help speed up your day and make you more efficient as you and your colleagues can share work instantly. Google Docs can help with shared documents that you are both working on at the same time.

Plan your day

Instead of taking on tasks when they come, plan your day accordingly to get the most challenging jobs done first and then finish with the more manageable tasks. Put together your to-do list the day before, so you know what you need to do the next day as soon as you come in. This will make you more efficient and help put in perspective what you need to do instead of stressing about what you need to do next.

Eliminate distractions

Are you trying to work with the TV on? Whenever you find yourself getting distracted, take a mental note of why and try to eliminate this. The more things that are going on around you, the more likely you are going to be distracted, causing you to be less productive. Whether you work from home or you're back in an office, think about purchasing noise-canceling headphones or moving to another less noisy part of your home or office.
